Inspiration like no other
I talk and write a lot about inspiration, it’s not surprising as it’s what I do! As a coach and mentor inspiration for others and myself is vital to carrying out my role successfully and more importantly being good at what I do. As a result, I read, I observe others around and indeed, my clients but most of the time my inspiration comes from my life surroundings.
Inspiration sometimes comes from the most unlikely places and most of the time we are not even aware that we are being inspired by those closest to us, we often take it for granted as it’s them…right? It’s a little bit like the adage “We don’t miss the water till the well runs dry” a very true statement.
I have recently been reflecting on the inspiration I gained from spending time with a close friend who truly was inspiring, this was on so many levels as she gave very little time in reflecting on her circumstances, instead she put her thoughts into what was happening around her. This included time and interest in others particularly her family but also this extended to friends and a general interest in human nature. Being interested in others is often a great distraction from our own issues and problems. In testament to this person, selflessness came extremely naturally.
When you witness such simple but powerful acts of how humans can adapt to extreme life conditions and still remain caring beautiful people who still have time, energy and sympathy for others, this truly is the most inspiring thing to observe.
We can learn so much from the closest of people but often we take it for granted and instead feel inspiration comes from Facebook posts, articles and you tube!
Look around you folks, soak it up and take it in, inspiration comes from those around you on the simplest scale, it will be there believe me!
